The folks in Minnesota rallied round the HMP to raise over $22,000 dollars for the people of Haiti, $10,000 of which has already been put to work through Heartline Ministries in Haiti!  Now it's your turn Chicago!  If you're in the Chicagoland area, please join us February 14th at 4 p.m. for the Heart for Haiti Earthquake Relief Fundraiser to be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church located at 5211 Carpenter St, in Downer's Grove, Illinois. Tickets are on sale for $10 dollars before February 14th through our website or Immanuel's church office. (Tickets are $15 dollars the day of the event!)  100 percent of donations received will go towards earthquake relief through the Haiti Mission Project and groups we partner with including, Haiti Lutheran Mission Society and Heartline Ministries.  Don't miss this opportunity to hear HMP 2009 team alum Mia Koehne share her gift of music with her group LED, as well as the amazing musical offerings of Pars Delane, Dave and Chris Gessner and the 4D's. Haitian art will be up for silent auction and refreshments will be served!  Please join us.  Why not take this day where we remember love, to share a little love with the people of Haiti!   (And don't worry...the event will be over by 6pm so you can still take your Sweetie out for a romantic dinner in downtown Downer's Grove, or other place of your choosing to celebrate St. Valentine's Day!)

The HMP would like to thank everyone who participated in our Earthquake Relief Fundraiser on January 21st.  We were overwhelmed by your generosity and outpouring of suppot to the people of Haiti.  So far, we have received over $22,000 dollars in donations for earthquake relief, and expect around $10,000 more in the coming weeks.  We are putting your donations to work and have already sent $10,000 to Heartline Ministries who are currently meeting the immediate needs of those injured through their clinic/hospital.  (HMP Board member Joanna Thiele is currently serving with this clinic while she is in Haiti.)  We appreciate your support and love having the opportunty to make a difference in Haiti with your help!  As more information is available as to relief efforts and rebuilds we will update the website with how other funds are dispersed.

The Haiti Mission Project can report that all of our contacts that we work with in Haiti are alive and well. Some family members of cooks and staff are not as fortunate, so please pray for comfort and healing for all those who have lost loved ones. We can also report that though the guesthouse where we stay has been destroyed, the orphanges we work with, Notre Masion and St. Joe's Creche are standing but suffered some damage. The extent of damage is not yet known. As of Friday morning we can also report that the Lilivous compound (orphanage, clinic and food storage) where we have been working for the past five years is still standing but suffered some structural damage. You can see the pictures below. Please continue to pray as relief efforts continue. If you're looking for organizations to support, we would suggest the following:

We have friends in Haiti working around the clock providing food, water, shelter and medical care. They have put together this shirt to help support their ministry: www.helphaitishirt.comThis is also where our friend and fellow board member Joanna is working right now.

(The pictures below are of the orphanage in Lilivous we have been helping build for the past several years. It was dedicated on January 10, 2010 - just two days before the earthquake - and the children were scheduled to move in soon. As you can see, the damage was minimal but there are some repairs needed, and we're hopeful that it will still become home to children soon.)
